Hearing Aids : Why Live with Hearing Loss?

While hearing loss affects different people in different ways, over time can lead to anxiety, depression, isolation, loneliness, embarrassment, feelings of isolation, anger and frustration.

Frustration is felt not only by the person with hearing loss, but by their family members and friends as well.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

There is no reason to settle with having a hearing loss.  Your condition can be helped.

Common signs of a hearing loss are:

-Turning the volume up on your TV or radio just to understand what is being said (which may be too loud for other people).
-Missing visits or telephone calls because you didn’t hear the doorbell or telephone.
-Having difficulty following conversations and/or having people repeat what is being said.
-Talking too loud.

If any of these symptoms sound familiar, make an appointment to have a hearing evaluation by a hearing aid specialist.

If indeed you have a hearing problem, I will be glad to discuss your problem and recommend the specific solution to help you hear better.

The options may be surgery or a hearing aid.

With so many hearing aids on the market today, it is easy to get confused and overwhelmed.

If a hearing loss is diagnosed, a recommendation for a hearing aid will be made based on the person’s hearing loss, lifestyle and communication needs.

The key is don’t delay.  That way, you can hear what you’ve been missing.

-Clayton L. Helms is a hearing aid specialist.
